REVISITING AFGHANISTAN

military, photography, travel

One year ago today we packed our bags, said good-bye to our friends and family and boarded a plane to Afghanistan to provide air support for Operation Enduring Freedom. For some, this trip was just another deployment added to a long list of previous ventures. For others, it was their first time being sent overseas to do a job. Either way, stress and anxiety filled the atmosphere as we entered the foreign hostile land. As I reflect and look back on the deployment a year later, it was definitely an experience I will never forget. There were definitely plenty of hard times out in the desert, but we still found ways to have a good time and keep each others’ spirits lifted. Personally, I would never volunteer to deploy there a second time, but I am glad that I went and experienced working in that environment because it made me more appreciative of the smallest luxuries back home. With that being said, enjoy these photos of life in desert.
